Gloria George Obituary

June 20, 1929 - February 8, 2026 Gloria Valjean George (Ramskill), a life-long Christian, went to heaven. She passed from a stomach virus at age 96.
Born in Hollywood; Valjean grew up in Los Angeles, just like her mom Dorathy. Her great grandfather, George Morrison and his Cherokee bride, Mary Ann, pioneered to LA in the 1870s from Texas. Her dad, Harry Ramskill, and his brother Thomas immigrated to LA in 1923 from Grimsby, England.
Valjean served four years in the Women's Army Corps before marrying an Army officer, Ellsworth Palmer George Jr. She had three kids: Carolyn, Thomas, and Jimmy. The military life included assignments around the USA and Germany; and ended with her husband's final command with the Idaho National Guard in Twin Falls.
After her divorce in 1975, she worked in nursing care for 40 years. She supported Dr. Hans and Mary Louise von Leden in their home close to the UCLA campus most of that time. With modest inheritance and faith in Jesus, Valjean was never a financial burden to her children. She gave generously to charities.
At age 84, she retired and moved to Idaho near her daughter. Valjean is buried in the Twin Falls Cemetery between Carolyn and Thomas. She is survived by her son James, and grandchildren Erik and Joshua.
