Gus Fisher Obituary

Fisher, Gus Sam Of Los Angeles, CA, passed away February 22, 2004.
Gus Fisher was born on December 24, 1931 in Grafton, West Virginia and resident of Los Angeles for over 40 years. Gus was the devoted father of Samantha Fisher of Los Angeles whom he cherished. He was the beloved brother of Esther Huyck and loving Uncle to Cheryl and Marilyn Huyck and a loving cousin to Dean Fisher, Phil Fisher and Peter Fasseas, their spouses and families. Gus grew up in Elkins, West Virginia. He graduated Elkins High School in 1949, Potomac State School in 1951 and West Virginia University in 1953. He enlisted in the Marine Corps, earned his Commission and was stationed at El Toro. Mr. Fisher's passions were his personal relationships, the arts, sports and most of all, being a father to his beloved daughter, Samantha. He was captain of his high school basketball team, went on to earn collegiate athletic scholarships and was a member of West Virginia's varsity basketball teams that went on to tournament play in the early fifties. In 1958, he earned a BA at the Pasadena Playhouse College of Theatre. He performed on stage, screen and television in a number of roles for about a decade before concentrating on real estate. Gus came to specialize in commercial real estate as a broker and owner for over 25 years. While he made his home and career in California, Gus maintained a life long connection to his West Virginia roots. He remained close to his many dear friends there through frequent communication and visits. Gus's life will be celebrated at a memorial service on Thursday, February 26, 2004 at 2:30 p.m., at the Little Church of the Flowers, Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, CA. Donations in his memory may be made to Los Angeles Hospice.
