Harold Noyes Obituary

Noyes, Harold
Born June 10, 1911, Minneapolis, Minnesota, died August 20, Corsicana, Texas. Survived by son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Sandra of Texas; daughter, Julie of Glendale; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by wife, Katherine Cox (1969). In 1985 he married Minnie Jim (June) Christian, who died in 2000. A commercial artist, he went to New York at 24 as an art director for the "True Confessions" and Captain Marvel comics. In 1942 he moved to Los Angeles and motion picture advertising for Howard Hughes, MGM, RKO and other studios. Extensive work for Walt Disney included designs for the first Disneyland guidebook. Expanding his painting talent, he joined the Laguna Beach Art Assn. and won competitive show awards throughout southern California. His works were shown at Laguna's Challis Galleries and in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Riverside, San Juan Capistrano, New Mexico and Florida galleries. Moving to Texas, his paintings of Texas courthouses were exhibited in Dallas. He painted "Main Street U.S.A." for Corsicana's Sesquicentennial. In the ensuing decades he continued to paint historical Texas homes and scenes. A memorial service was held in Texas. Inurnment at Inglewood Park Cemetery.
