Irving Gordon Obituary

January 26, 1926 - November 6, 2021 Dr. Irving J. Gordon, 95, passed away at home in Carlsbad, California. Born in Los Angeles, Irving was the youngest child of Louis and Sophie Gordon. The family emigrated from Russia in 1922 and settled in Boyle Heights. Irving's father, a pharmacist, owned Gordon Drugstore in the Boyle Hotel.Irving attended Roosevelt High School and USC (undergraduate, medical school). He enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and was a medical officer during the Korean War. Upon discharge, he completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Los Angeles County Hospital. He continued with USC/County for 30 years as Instructor of Medicine, Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine, and Full Clinical Professor of Medicine. Irving was also in private practice in Panorama City for nearly 35 years and served as Chief of Staff at Holy Cross and Valley Presbyterian Hospitals.Irving was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Doris (Goodman) Gordon, his parents, brother Abraham Gordon, and sister Marcella (Gordon) Weiss. He is survived by children, John Gordon (Margo), Robert Gordon (Kristal), Thomas Gordon (Karen), Patricia Gordon-Reedy (Kim Reedy), and Judy Gordon (Ricardo Palma), and by 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

I worked with Dr. Gordon in Panorama City from 1979 to 1984. He was an awesome person his patients adored him and so did I! Doris was a beautiful soul and the sweetest person ! I feel honored to have known them both! My prayers are with everyone who love them both! Jayne
