James Earl CALVERT

June 18, 1968 - December 26, 2025 James Earl Calvert, 57, of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away on December 26th, 2025, in Taos, NM.
Born on June 18th, 1968, James was the child of Frank Epton Calvert and Edith Ray Hilbert.
James attended elementary and middle schools in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He completed his high school education in Fayetteville, North Carolina while staying with his sister Marietta.
After graduating, James joined the service and was a dedicated Marine who was honorably discharged.
James Earl spent a varied career working for small publications, Roadrunner Sports, and retailing audio electronics and speakers.
He and former partner Rich met in Oceanside CA in the late 1980s and we're together for almost 12 years, living together in San Diego CA.
James met his husband Jerry in Orange County, CA in the early 2000s. They were married on October 7th, 2013, in Santa Ana, CA and lived together in Long Beach and Orange County California along with nephew Robert.
James and Jerry shared a love of softball and live music; they loved going to concerts, traveling, eating adventures, and being with family and friends. James was an adventurous free spirit who lived life to its fullest. He was an animal lover and his two dogs Sage and Basil are now with his lifelong best friend.
James was appointed by a judge to become a Court Appointed Special Advocate) to represent the best interests of abused children in the court system.
James was able to meet and celebrate and vacation and share important events with Jerry's entire family, including Jerry's brothers Stephen and Sterling. He became great friends with Jerry's high school friend Charlie Hollenbeck and wife Cindy.
James's return to Tulsa, while bittersweet, allowed him to reconnect with family and friends before his untimely passing.
James was very dedicated to his family and friends and gave freely of himself. "His laughter filled rooms and he never met a stranger," said his brother Frank. He was Rose's little baby. Jackie will always love him.
James helped to raise his nephew Robert and provided home and comfort to nieces Melisha and Brishaun. He walked both his niece RiRi and brother Frank down the aisle.
Above all, James embodied the idea of unconditional love and lived it every day.
James is survived by his beloved husband, Jerry; brother, Frank; sister-in-law, Zeta; and sisters, Jackie and Rose.
Family and friends are invited to a funeral service on Saturday, January 17 at noon at Timothy Baptist at 817 E 46th St N, Tulsa, OK 74126.
