Jeffrey Joseph Lyon

1942 - 2022

April 12, 1942 - June 7, 2022 Jeffrey Lyon, of Long Beach, California, passed away on June 7, 2022. He was born to parents, Harold Lee Lyon and Florence Francis Hoffman on April 12, 1942, at Long Beach Community hospital.
Jeff grew up in Kerman, CA but also lived in Indonesia and attended school in Tierra del Fuego, Chile for his middle school years. He moved back to the states to attend and graduate from St. Norbert's high school in Wisconsin in 1959 which began his lifelong dedication to the Green Bay Packers – Go Pack Go! He then attended Marquette University, earning his B.A. in History in 1963. As a navigation officer, he served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years (1963-1967) ending the last year of his military career in Japan where he met his wife. Later, he attended Loyola Law School in Los Angeles and was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1973. He had a 34-year career as an attorney working for Union Pacific, opening his own successful firm, then returning to civil service at RTD/L.A. Metro until his retirement in 2007.
Jeff was a loving and devoted husband, father, and friend and will always be remembered for his generosity, warmth, and intellect. His biggest passions were traveling all over the world with his wife, spending time with his family, reading, and working on the house. He was a talented Mr. Fix-it and liked to say that he spent much of his retirement in glamorous places like Europe, Asia, South America, and Home Depot.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife, June, of 54 amazing years. He was the loving father of his children, Lisa Coloma (Tina) of Tucson, AZ, Michael Lyon (Amanda) of Long Beach, CA, and Mayumi Lyon Ales (Stacy) of Eastvale, CA; adoring grandfather to Parker, Max, Ellaena, and Sophia; and big brother to Steve Lyon (Jean) of Ocean Springs, MS. There will be no formal public services at the request of our beloved one.
