John Peter Brincko

John Peter Brincko passed away on August 22, 2023 in Santa Monica, California, following a brief illness. He was 80 years old. Born on September 30, 1942 in Manhattan, NY to Slovakian immigrants, John grew up with a profound work ethic and earned an Accounting degree, while putting himself through Baruch College. As a young accountant, John married Jean Kraynak, and had two children, Justin and Danielle. In 1976, John took a position at Max Factor and moved his family to Los Angeles, CA. In 1979, John started his corporate turnaround business, Brincko Associates. He served as President and CEO of more than 50 companies across industries, including retail, wine, and apparel manufacturing. Marquee companies included Barney's New York, Lockheed Martin, and Consolidated Freightways. In 1993, John married the love of his life, Debbie Waadt, and they had a son, Matthew. John's passions included travel, food and wine, and friends. His wine knowledge was encyclopedic, and he served on the board of Wilson-Daniels, the fine wine importer, for many years. His exuberance for life was infectious and his generosity to his friends, immeasurable. He always had a twinkle in his eye and if there was ever any music in the air, he was always the first to be dancing. In 2019, John and Debbie moved to Rancho Santa Fe, while continuing to spend some time at their home in Malibu. He is survived by his sister, Tina, his wife, Debbie, his children, Justin, Danielle (and husband, Andy), and Matthew, and his grandchildren, Kira and Cole. The Musique et Vin will dedicate their concert on October 20, 2023 in New York City in John's honor. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
