John CAWLEY Obituary

CAWLEY, SR., John Gray Age 90, died peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 in Los Angeles. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Cawley, two brothers, Kermit Cawley and Harry Cawley. Born May 8, 1920 in Portage, Wisconsin, the son of George and Irma Gray Cawley. John proudly served in the U. S. Army (Sgt.), fighting in the Pacific Theatre-New Guinea in World War II. He supported our Troops as a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Staying in Southern California after the war, he married and raised three children. Though John made his living for many years in the insurance and bond business, he was the greatest fan of the greatest teams ever - the Dodgers and USC Trojans. But his final legacy is the smile offered to friends, the laughter given freely to all and the great and proud gleam in his eye upon seeing his three children John G. Cawley, Jr. (Vivianna), Cathleen I. Cawley (Ken), and Camille C. Seibel (Brad) as well as his two cherished grandchildren. Catholic funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 29, 2010 at 11:30 a.m., Holy Cross Cemetery, Chapel of the Risen Christ, 5835 W. Slauson Avenue, Culver City, CA 90230.
