There are some people you just can't believe are gone. The how and why are important, sure. But they don't touch her absence except in our collective and individual memories. God, what a woman. I married her, married the whole family back in the late sixties...in the Bel Air hotel no less. She was funny, smart, beautiful, engaged in life, in her friends, and for a while, even in me. I loved those days though sometimes I had a hard time showing it. She finally found Ross, the right guy for dead flat sure. I was blessed that Julie and I remained friends. Shock and sadness are my dancing partners now. Maybe to Scott Joplin's real, slow drag. You know...

I just learned of Julie's passing. Although I have not seen her in many years, she was one of my best friends as a teenager, and I think of her often. My heart is with Julie's family.

I was so sad to hear of Julie's passing in the paper. Although it's been years since I've been in touch, I have such fond memories of her. She was my first boss after I got my MPH. When she hired me at ACS in 1982, I got the job under the condition I changed my name to "Jay" so we wouldn't be confused. I carried that name with me for many years as when i ran into people after leaving ACS and they called me "Jay", i knew they were from my ACS days. She was a wonderful friend, mentor, boss and confidant. That job was one of the highlights of my career. My deepest sympathies to Ross and Laura and her family.
