Kurt Amboss Obituary
Born in Vienna, Austria in 1926, Kurt was sent to England, at the age of 12, thru Kinder Transport, living first in a boys home, and then self supporting from the age of 14. Kurt put himself through college, earning a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of London. His work included publications in NASA experimental records, and numerous patents owned by Hughes Aircraft. In 1989, he became a naturalized citizen of the United States. After retirement, he spent time feeding the homeless, and volunteering for the American Red Cross. Like many Palisadians, he lost his home to the Palisades fire this past year.
He is survived by his beloved wife, of over 50 years, Phyllis, his two daughters, Monica and Julie, a step-daughter, Sharon, 9 Grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of overcoming adversity, brilliance, compassion, humor and a deep appreciation for the arts and nature. He was truly an extraordinary human.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 PM on October 28, 2025
