Linda Wyatt Obituary

Linda Lee Wyatt, age 72, of Los Angeles, passed into eternal life on November 26, 2022. Born and raised in Albany, New York, Linda knew from an early age that teaching was her calling and set up a play school to teach the younger kids on the block. She headed West in 1968 to attend UCLA and graduated Phi Beta Kappa (1972). She earned her California teaching credential the next year.

Linda found her second "family" at Providence High School in Burbank, California, where she began teaching French in 1974, and eventually became World Languages Department Chair. She taught at Providence for 44 years and retired in 2017. Linda was a devoted teacher and an inspiration to her students. Colleagues and students remember her as full of a joie de vivre, always smiling and laughing, and passionate about teaching French. In 1994, she received a Los Angeles Times Teacher of the Year Award. Over the years, she delighted in leading summer trips to Europe, where students could experience the living language. Her favorite destination on these trips was Paris.

The Sisters of Providence were a lifelong influence on Linda. She was inspired by their faith and commitment to service to others. She valued their friendships and was honored to become a Sisters of Providence Associate in 2012.

Linda was a joyful soul, generous and full of optimism. She loved travel, the arts, Disneyland, the Hollywood Bowl, Yosemite National Park, and her two sweet kitties, Tigger and Roo.

Linda is predeceased by her parents, B. Woodrow Wyatt and Julie Wyatt, and her sister-in-law, Catherine Wyatt, of Albany, New York. She is survived by her sisters Wendy Wyatt (John Murphy) and Julie Ann Lofgren (James), her brother Woodrow Wyatt, nephews (Matthew, Kyle, Jonathan, Nathaniel), and nieces (Stephanie, Emily).

A visitation will be held Thursday, January 5, 2023, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Visitation Room E, Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Dr., Los Angeles, CA 90068. Interment Friday, January 6, 9:30 a.m., Church of the Hills, Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills.

So very sad to hear of Linda´s passing. We went to high school together for six years and she was a valued member of our small class. We had many classes together including her beloved French. I had so hoped to see Linda at our 50th class reunion but she didn´t make the trip. RIP dear classmate.

I graduated PHS in 2000, and I still talk about Ms. Wyatt and French class to this day. Ms. Wyatt didn´t just teach, she immersed her students into the lesson. I can´t believe how much French I still remember! Heaven has definitely gained a beautiful angel. Merci pour toutes les leçons en classe et sur la vie.
