Lisa Rosen Obituary

1948 - 2025 Lisa Joy Rosen of Los Angeles, California, passed away on December 9, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 77 years old.
Born in 1948 in Boston, Massachusetts to Shirley and Carl Rosen, Lisa attended the Dana Hall School in Wellesley, Massachusetts, and went on to graduate from Stanford University. Following her graduation, Lisa dedicated herself to teaching at Montessori schools throughout the Bay Area.
In the late 1970s, Lisa moved to New York City to join Puritan Fashions, the company cofounded by her grandfather, Arthur and father, Carl and later led by her brother, Andrew Rosen. As a member of Puritan's marketing team, she consulted for iconic brands including Calvin Klein, Diane von Furstenberg and Marithe & Francoise Girbaud. Lisa had a keen sense of fashion; she was a brilliant merchant and developed many innovative virtual merchandising concepts. In the mid-1980s, Lisa returned to California and continued her work in fashion. Beginning in the early 2000s, she began consulting for the brands Theory and rag & bone, both cofounded by her brother Andrew. Andrew placed enormous faith in Lisa's intuition, point of view and understanding of what women needed. Lisa was the epitome of style, always a step ahead of trends and always dressed impeccably for any occasion. Shopping was one of her favorite pastimes; she was known for her sharp eye and beloved at all the major department stores.
From an early age, Lisa was a standout equestrian and champion competitor. She enjoyed an illustrious show career on the A circuit, placing in the prestigious ASPCA Maclay National Championship finals at Madison Square Garden and winning numerous championships up and down the East Coast. Her love for horses extended beyond the show ring into the thoroughbred racing business, where she was deeply involved in her family's Star Crown Stables. She traveled extensively to racetracks, horse sales, and breeding facilities.
Lisa was a dedicated friend and family member, known for her sense of humor, quirky comments and singular perspective. She was a loving and devoted aunt to her nieces and nephews, with whom she shared an especially close bond. She loved spending time with her nephew, Austin at his music studio and she was a fixture at her cousin David's house, entertaining his kids and grandkids. A lifelong animal lover, Lisa went everywhere with her beloved Newfoundland dog, Luigi.
She is survived by her sisters, Michele Rosen Powers of Middleburg, Virginia and Genevieve Labean Page of Rancho Santa Fe, California; her brothers, Douglas Rosen of Los Angeles, California, and Andrew Rosen of Miami, Florida; her cousin, David Rosen of Venice, California; her nieces, Ashley Rosen and Rosie Powers, and her nephew, Austin Rosen.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Newfoundland Club of America (www.ncarescue.org).

Lisa and I were friends forever it seemed. She was one of the first friends I met when I had moved here from New Orleans and purchased my first house up behind the Château Marmont way back in 1997. My first encounter with Lisa Rosen was when I had just finished moving in And was downstairs getting settled. When all of a sudden I was startled due to
heard noises upstairs ?! When I went to investigate there was Lisa who allow herself in just standing in my living room with a cocktail in one hand with the noises of ice cubes clanking all around as she pointed around to everything and anything without one drop spilling out of her glass and in her other hand was a giant leather leash with the LARGEST dog I had ever seen in person (Luigi) I knew right away we were going to be good friends and also that she was a character that I was going to appreciate. We spent the next hour touring the house and laughing without me even questioning or commenting on her allowing herself in.
I was fortunate enough to have a lunch with her and some other friends about a month before her demise. She was in great spirits and looked great without any signs of a struggle healthwise. She was strong like this. I will treasure that lunch and the memories made that afternoon the rest of my life and whenever I think of her.
May you rest in peace, my dear friend, and please come visit me anytime you wish, you are always welcome just like our first encounter

She was a dynamo!!!
I first met her at Saks Fifth Avenue, I remember she was wearing Sacaii, so casual yet looked amazing, and then at Barneys New York in Beverly Hills, where she just simple walked into my clients dressing room , always looking Chic, the latter part of her life she´d come to Maxfield with another wonderful human , Tammy, again always beautifully dressed, she shared with me that she was ill. From her shoes to the sweaters she loved to drape over her shoulders, I will always remember her. She never had ill intentions and unfortunately misunderstood by many, but she had a huge heart, and I will truly miss her. RIP my dear friend.

Lisa, was a dear friend of mine for many years. We met in the design district in Del Mar, California doing yoga at Foundation Yoga. My great grandfather had begun the former May Company with his cousins so we were both interested in dress and fashion. My family moved to St. Louis where I was raised and ran the Famous Barr for awhile. I moved to Newport Beach, a second home after 16 years of being in Del Marwhen my youngest was in high school. Lisa visited us and got to know my children who loved being with her. She took such interest in their lives. We will miss her endless stories and her sense of humor. Lisa was always full of life and we talked daily intil she went into hospice. She was a fighter and put up a good fight with her battle with cancer. Lisa was the life of the party whenever we were together. My heartfelt sympathy to her entire family.
