Livia Spira Obituary

Spira, Livia H., born February 18, 1932, died October 12, 2018 at Encino, California. She escaped from the Nazis and, with her parents and sister, made her way to Palestine in 1943, where she was a nurse in the 1948 War of Independence. She led an epic life, was full of dignity and humor, and was a model of love and compassion, always willing to help those in need. She made the world a better place. She is survived by her sons, Dr. Alan M. Spira and Doron M. (Laurie) Tisser; Grandsons Cantor Benjamin A. Tisser and Jeremy N. (Ashley) Tisser; great-grandchildren Talia, Ethan and Kaylee; sister Edith Barcay and cousin Ada Lorber. The family is very grateful to Jennifer Garcia and Jesusa Evangelista, who took great care of our Mother for her last few years. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Team Tisser Foundation at its web-site, www.teamtisser.org.
