Marie Elena Lewis

Marie Elena Lewis, a devoted wife, compassionate advocate, and lifelong friend to many, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and strength.
Born in La Porte, Indiana, Marie was proud of her Brazilian and Irish heritage, which shaped her spirited personality and her deep sense of empathy for others. She shared a beautiful 63-year journey with her husband and 1962 high school sweetheart, Edward Lewis. Their love story began in youth and grew into a lifelong partnership built on devotion, laughter, and unwavering support.
Marie graduated valedictorian of her Loyola Marymount class and dedicated her career to helping others as a social worker for the County of Los Angeles, where she worked tirelessly to uplift at-risk youth from minority communities. Her compassion, understanding, and fierce advocacy changed countless lives and inspired those around her to see the best in people.
Throughout her husband's years at the University of Southern California, Marie's love and encouragement never wavered. She proudly supported Edward through college and law school, helping him achieve his goals while building a life grounded in shared dreams and hard work. At his side they built a real estate and commercial enterprise that enabled them to enjoy a life of style, travel, automobile collection as well as philanthropy and political activism.
Marie will be remembered for her kindness, integrity, and the light she brought into every room. She touched the lives of all who knew her and leaves behind an enduring example of selflessness and grace.
She is survived by her loving husband, Edward Lewis, who will forever cherish her memory and the extraordinary life they built together.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday November 5th at 11AM
at Mount Sinai Memorial Park Cemetery
