Marvin Flicker Obituary

February 18, 1935 - July 16, 2021 Marvin Flicker, M.D., died peacefully at home in the embrace of his family on July 17, 2021, What a man he was-full of what life had to offer. Passionate about his family, good food, wine, history, particularly the Civil War, psychoanalysis, and his patients. Married to Carol-Ann, the love of his life for 62 years, he left behind 3 daughters, their spouses, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, his older brother, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Contrary to his protestations, he loved his dogs and cats. He hated sports but was an avid downhill skier. He couldn't carry a tune but enjoyed folk music. He enjoyed travel-to both international and domestic destinations, especially annual family trips to Colorado for skiing, and Zion National Park. Helping his patients was very important to him. What a difference he made in many lives. Born to Sidney and Rebecca Flicker in Freehold, New Jersey on February 18, 1935, he was the youngest of 3 siblings. He was a graduate of the Westown School, Bard College, Chicago Medical School, and the Menninger Foundation. He was on the faculty of the Psychoanalytic Center of California (PCC), California Graduate Institute (CGI) and the New Center for Psychoanalysis. He served for 3 exciting years in Japan in the U.S. Airforce as a general medical officer where he discovered that he wanted to become a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst. We will miss him terribly but are comforted by knowing we carry him in our hearts and genes forever. Donations may be made on behalf of Marvin to Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services.
