Me acabo de enterar de su fallecimiento y quiero expresar mi tristeza .Fue un gran ser humano , talentoso y creativo.Siempre tendré un buen recuerdo de él.Lo conocí en Colombia en un viaje que hizo para el festival de cine de Bogotá.A su socia, Nani a sus amigos y familiares ,mis condolencias.

Mel wasn't a close friend -- I hadn't seen him in many years when we last met at Peter Bergman's memorial service -- but he was always a dear friend. I treasure the piece of petrified wood he found and gave me on a walk near his home in Santa Fe, back in the '80s. So very sorry that we'll never meet again "this side of Paradise." He was a mensch.
