Michael Ansara
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Michael Ansara, a television and movie actor whose roles included a Klingon on "Star Trek," has died.

A longtime friend and spokesman for Ansara says the actor died Wednesday at his home in Calabasas, Calif. after a long illness. He was 91.

Besides the "Star Trek" role, Ansara appeared on dozens of TV shows, including "Broken Arrow," ''Law of the Plainsman," ''I Dream of Jeannie," ''Hawaii 5-0" and "Murder, She Wrote."

His film credits include "Julius Caesar," ''Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea," ''The Greatest Story Ever Told" and "The Comancheros" with John Wayne.

Ansara was predeceased by his son, Matthew, with former wife Barbara Eden. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Beverly, a sister and a niece and nephew.

Michael was my dad's cousin. He used to visit us as kids. He shared a birthday with my brother and he and Barbara (also my mom's name) named a son after me, but he passed away in 2001. Rest in peace Michael and Matthew.

My husband and I just watched Rawhide, 1963. A lazy afternoon and Mr. Ansara was in this great role, which I think every role he played, he made great. This episode is how I like to think of him in his real life. Loyal, discreet, quiet, and a good honest person. Mr. Ansara you are missed by many.

I remember this star so well from the show 'The Rifleman' when he made an appearance as a US Marshall. His presence was powerful then. He was such a strong and imprssive figure of a man. He will be and is missed. My sympathy goes out to the family still as I reflect on his life and wish them all the best as they live life without the presence of this great man.

My heart hurts as I realize a part of my childhood has passed. Michael was my first TV love and taught the truth about Indians and Life. You could see in his eyes the honesty of the person he was portraying and I still know him whenever I hear his voice on reruns. He would stop me in my tracks so I go to see the TV. For all the people you touched please know you will be missed. So glad to know so many felt the same as I do. RIP Michael

I will always remember him as Cochise. My father would let me stay up past bedtime because he thought this show had merrit. Over the years, whether watching old movies or TV shows, I can suddenly hear his voice and realize who the actor is. His presence in a scene draws attention. What I have read from those who knew him, he was a wonderful man. For this fan he lives on as a wonderful actor.

I grew up watcing Mr. Ansara on televsion during the golden years. Broken Arrow was my favorite with him. He was a talented actor, who could bring life to the characters he played. He was a shining example of why multi-culturism works and has always been part of this cournty. And of course like all little boys we were jelous of him being married to Barbara Eden.
