Michael Singer Obituary

Singer, Michael J.
August 3, 1922 - July 2, 2010
An extraordinary man who touched many lives, Michael was born in Chicago, August 3, 1922. He graduated from Marshall HS in Chicago and attended the University of Illinois School of Medicine. After serving in the Army Medical Corps in Japan from 1947-49 he settled in Long Beach, CA. Following a psychiatry residency at the Long Beach VA, he was in private practice in Long Beach from the mid 1950s until his retirement in 2001. He passed away at Long Beach Community Hospital on July 2, 2010 after a sudden illness. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Beverle; his three children, Steve, Gail, and Cindy; and seven grandchildren who revere him as an exceptionally generous, loving and empathic gentleman with a lust for life and a remarkable sense of humor. He will be sorely missed by a multitude of friends, colleagues, family members, and people whose lives he touched. A celebration of his life was held on July 5, at Temple Israel, Long Beach.

Dr. Singer was an such an incredible, loving, caring friend as well as top notch M.D. I had the pleasure of meeting him many years ago through healthcare and he always had a smile and joke for everyone. I will be eternally grateful for his professional care also. He saved my life!!! Our world has lost another from the Greatest Generation who held ethics and character in high regard. My prayers are with his family. His light will go on forever.

Dr. Singer was a wonderdful humane being and a great, kind, caring doctor. The world would be a better place if there were more people like Dr. Singer in it. A former patient.
