Nancy Codron Obituary
October 4, 1934 - October 19, 2025 Nancy Codron, 91, of Brentwood, California passed away peacefully in her home surrounded in her final days by her loving husband of 71 years, Irving Codron, and their devoted children (their spouses always included among them), her 7 grandchildren, and her great-granddaughter.
Born in Chicago to Rose and Charlie Mittelman, Nancy's late brother Milton would make the first foray out to California in the early 1950s. Her family followed soon thereafter, and Nancy enrolled at UCLA. There she was fated to meet the love of her life, Irving Codron. After three months, they married.
The days that followed brought a whirlwind year of travel in the U.S. due to Irv's early Air Force career. After this period, the two settled down in Los Angeles. While Irv continued to advance his career at the accounting firm that would ultimately carry his name, Nancy kept the household strong while also pursuing meaningful volunteer work at a research laboratory at nearby U.C.L.A. The family continued to grow, and in the late 1960s they would move to their forever home in Brentwood.
Throughout their lives together, Nancy and Irving travelled extensively visiting friends worldwide. They were always so obviously happy together.
A woman of serene beauty, infinite intuition, strength, and dedication, Nancy will be remembered for her ability to create a home where everyone was comfortable and felt seen. She always focused on the positive in life but never shied away from challenges. Her counsel to family and friends alike was that life is ever-changing and that moments of conflict or sorrow are fleeting; hope is always on the horizon. Significantly, Nancy's favorite books and films: Gone with the Wind, The Wizard of Oz, and Dr. Zhivago captured her sense of romance and the importance of home, but also serve to illuminate her strength and admiration for female heroes of which she is certainly one.
Nancy is survived by her husband Irving; beloved sister-in-law Lea Joy Nemoy (Shel); children, Jeanne Silverman (Rick), Susan Stivers (Mike), David Codron (Helen), and Michael Codron (Jennifer); her seven grandchildren, Sara, Lucy, Max, Henry, Charlie, Maia, and Morgan; and her great-granddaughter, Mikaela.
The family has held a private memorial.
If you wish to honor Nancy's memory, donations to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank or the Southeast Community Foundation would be deeply appreciated in lieu of flowers.
