Pamela Mullin Obituary

March 15, 1943 - August 23, 2021 Pamela Mary Garvan Mullin died in Los Angeles at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center after a traumatic brain injury. In her final days, "Pam Pam" was surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren, a Scottish warrior to the end. A Macdonald of Clanranald, she was born in Greenock, Scotland to Sam and Janet Garvan. Fierce and fearless, at 18, with a one-way ticket and $300 in her pocket, the fastest typist in Scotland set off for America. Garden Grove, CA, to be exact. Expecting a quaint English village, she promptly hopped a bus to LA. There, while working two jobs, she met Peter Mullin, to whom she was married and supported in growing his successful business for over 25 years. Pam's children were the light of her life: their first child, Brian, was born on St. Patrick's Day, 1971. Three years later, daughter Darcy was born. Pam's third child, Courtney, born in 1980, predeceased Pam. Son Timothy was born in 1984. She was devoted and loved to give both her time and resources, stepping up to help in unexpected moments - like when she showed up at shelter in need with 200 blankets in her car. St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Community, Marlborough School, Loyola High School, Sacred Heart of San Francisco, the PUENTE Learning Center, ASPCA and Claremont Graduate University were among her favorite charities. She worked on Mayor Richard Riordan's re-election campaign and was his finance chairman in 1993. She also completed the London and NYC marathons. A fun-loving hostess, Pam was a consummate entertainer whose legendary parties in Los Angeles, Paris and Normandy, France will be missed. She is survived by Brian and Kelly Mullin (Stella, Sloane, Cal); Darcy and Matthew Cobb (Lachlan, Tate, Macdonald); Tim and Rebecca Mullin (Grayson, Finley, Courtney); John and Tessa Garvan (Richard, James); Gillian and Douglas Main (Rachel, Robbie); Lesley and Kevin Finn (Rebecca, Oliver); Norfolk Terriers (Coco, Tanner). A service will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Church at 1:30pm on Sept. 10, 2021. In honor of Pamela and all those in attendance, we respectfully ask guests to be fully vaccinated. A streaming link will be available for family and friends abroad.
