PETERS, JR., Philip Rising Beloved father of Barbara, Patricia and Philip III, and grandfather of Claire. Loyal brother to Caroline Peters Rockwood, Mary Peters Bolton and Henry Charles Peters (deceased). Passed away January 25, 2010, at the age of 92. Phil was born in Columbus, Ohio and grew up in Lancaster, Ohio. He attended the Columbus Academy and was a graduate of The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Connecticut and Williams College, in Williamstown, Massachusetts. He worked at a trust company in Cincinnati, Ohio, before entering the U.S. Army and served in Europe during WWII as a Captain in the 132nd Gun Battalion. He married Caroline Dickason in 1944, who passed away in 2005. Phil worked for the New York Life Insurance Company in Los Angeles after the war and was a Chartered Life Underwriter. He was active at St. Matthew's Parish and a member for many years of the Bel-Air Bay Club and Los Angeles Country Club. Known for a hearty laugh and engaging personality, Phil enjoyed friends, his family and his hometown of Lancaster. A Memorial Service will be held at the Parish of St. Matthew at 1031 Bienveneda, Pacific Palisades at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 7. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be given in his memory to either the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio (www.decartsohio.org) or Meals on Wheels West (www.mealsonwheelswest.org).

One of my favorite people in the world, Uncle Phil was such a huge part of my world. My father's twin, my mentor, and the gentle man who walked me down the aisle. You are loved, missed, and will always hold a part of my heart.

I am not a 'close' friend of the Peters family, but have known Mr. Peters for 10+ years, and always enjoyed seeing him when he would visit one of his co.'s properties along Wilshire Bl. in Santa Monica. I am affiliated with one of the businesses in that block, and just absolutely enjoyed chatting with him over the years. What a wonderful man who always boosted me up with his kind and flattering words. I shall miss him.

My heart is with all of you. I just received Phil's e-mail letting me know Dad had passed. He was always one of my favorite 'parents,' for 4 years of college and beyond, and I always felt great warmth for him and friendship with him. Hard to beleive I knew him almost 4 decades...hard to beleive he has left us. Hold his memories dear. I know I will. All my love.
