November 14, 1941 - March 14, 2018 Phyllis was born on November 14, 1941, to Katherine and Luttrell W. Fender, in Pocahontas, Arkansas. Later the family moved to Michigan and then to St. Louis, Mo. After graduating from High School, Phyllis wanted to serve her country and enlisted in the United States Navy. During her tenure,she became a Dental Technician. She was proud to serve and was often called upon to be Flag Bearer for many occasions, not only because she was a dutiful subject but also, for her stature and poise! She always walked straight and tall, throughout her days. After serving her country, she entered the business world working days and going to school at night and on weekends. She graduated from Golden West College then went on to Cal State Fullerton obtaining a Degree of Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. Resulting from of her work experience and knowledge, she was hired by McDonald Douglas Corporation, later to be Boeing. During her tenure, she was a buyer in Avionics. She did due diligence on challenging projects, such as GSTS or Ground Based Surveillance Tracking System, the MD- 80 digital flight control system, the C-17 computer for the "boom", and the Space Program in Huntington Beach, Ca. At time of retirement she was a Senior Major Subcontracts Specialist. She was proud of her accomplishments! At retirement Phyllis loved her home, gardening, her pets, HB Central Park, the Beach and the beautiful sunsets. She enjoyed watching the humming birds coming into the back yard, the owls in the park and how the sun fell on the trees in the evening. She enjoyed reading, politics, puzzles,movies and a nice glass of Chardonnay with her meal and last, but not least, she loved her family. Phyllis is preceded in her passing by her mother and father, Katherine (Fender) Keim and Luttrell W. Fender, Vernon Lee Fender, Danny Dale Fender (Hattie) and Kevin Keim. She is survived by Janice and Hank Chase of Georgia, George and Sharon Fender of St. Libory Ill., Gary and Carol Fender of Honor, Mi.,Debbie Fender Wallenberg and Butch, of Howell, Mi., Tim and Barb Keim of Eddy, Tx., Steven Keim of St. Louis, Mo., and Kim Keim Streeter, of Beulah, Mi., and many nieces and nephews! She will be greatly missed by her family, her companion of 35 years Kathy Blasko, friends & neighbors. We have all been blessed to have known and loved her.
