To Rhondi's Family:
Yesterday, I came across a letter Rhondi sent me in 1965, written on a paper placemat, and postmarked Twin Falls, Idaho. We were good friends at AHS and, before that, at Fremont JHS. It was in a box with important cards and notes. My dad's job took us to Brea, CA, in 1966 and Rhondi and I lost contact. I searched her name over the years and found that she had fulfilled her writing dream, and in a big way. Yesterday, seeing her letter in that box, I did another search, still hoping for contact info. Surprised and sad at finding this obituary, I followed the story to her husband's obituary and fb page. Initial happiness for her having found such a man to love gave way to sympathy for you, her family, on losing them both at the same time. This message may never reach anybody, but if it does...I want you to know that as a teenager Rhondi was fun, intelligent, considerate, always writing books in her head and on paper. I knew her dad, Sylvan, and our parents helped us spend weekend hours together because we were too young to drive. My one question for you is did she ever have her own horse? No surprise that she had so many dogs and cats over the years. I will find copies of her books for my one and only granddaughter, Luna, and save them till she's old enough to read. She will find a note attached to them, explaining that her grandmother knew their author when she was a girl full of dreams and stories to tell. Again, I am sorry for your family's losses, but I know you have the warmest memories. I was Jackie Dallas (Justus, now), and live in Valencia, CA.
