Robert Reeves Obituary

May 8, 1968 - May 11, 2022 Robert Andrew Reeves, Unit Production Manager (UPM) for the Warner Bros/HBO Max series The Flight Attendant, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Los Angeles, California, on May 11, 2022. He was 54.

Born in Danbury, Connecticut on May 8, 1968, Robert graduated from Vassar College with a Bachelor of Arts, later earning an MBA at Cornell University. Always having a great passion for television and film, he began his career using his artistic talents at a claymation studio in Salt Lake City, Utah. Soon after, he began working on movie and TV sets on projects including Dumb And Dumber, Young Indiana Jones and Stephen King's The Stand, where he became a proud member of the Directors Guild of America. He then worked as an Assistant Director on such productions as: Kingpin, High School Musical 2, Touched by an Angel, October Road and Everwood, where he rose through the ranks to become a UPM. He continued in that new role on 90210, Training Day and Legion.

Robert was confident, direct and a respected leader and colleague to the cast and crews with whom he worked. He was a knowledgeable conversationalist with diverse interests ranging from the stock market to art. He had a wonderful dry wit and a huge heart. The biggest joy of Robert's life was his young daughter Zoe, with whom he shared his sense of humor and love of art. Together they made crafts and spent many days at Santa Monica Beach. He was a kind, fun, supportive and loving father to Zoe who adored him. He is survived by her, his mother Martha, brother Michael and Zoe's mother, Jennifer Lence. His death is a great loss to us all and he will be truly missed.

Robert will be laid to rest at Mount Sinai Cemetery in the Hollywood Hills on May 19, 2022. A private service will be held for family. A gathering to celebrate the life of Robert will be hosted for friends and family at a later date.

I only learned of Robert's death recently and was shocked and saddened by the news. I met him when he first moved to Salt Lake City. Even though we have not been in touch for years, I always thought I would be able to thank him for his kindness and support. He is the reason I am the person I am today instead of the future others had planned. For years I have checked in on his career, excited to see all he had done. I hope he knew how much he meant to those around him. My condolences to his loved ones, he was one of the most amazing people I have ever met.

I worked with Robert Reeves on '90210' when I first moved out to Los Angeles. I don't know if he ever knew this, but he changed my life and the course of my career with a single phone call when he offered me the job of a production assistant on that show. He helped me grow and taught me the ins and outs of entertainment and I will never forget him for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime.

Jenn and Zoe, my heartfelt thoughts are with you right now. I want you both to know that when speaking with Robert during our Flight Attendant shoot, he never finished a conversation without bringing his reasons and rationale for his work/life balance was all about his amazing and wonderful daughter, Zoe. There was always a way to bring her into his conversations. I admired his adoration. I can't imagine your pain but love takes many turns and presents itself so many ways. I felt that love for both of you. May he Rest In Peace.

Robert was so passionate about doing great work and that made him a great partner on set. He always had these anecdotes about every project he worked on that helped inform whatever problem we were facing in the moment. I´ll never forget all the time we spent trying to figure out how to make this big gag work on The Flight Attendant. It was like an impossible advanced algebra problem and he was all in until we found the solution. I´m so grateful I got the chance to work with him. He will be missed. Sending you my deepest condolences and keeping you and Zoe in my thoughts. Please don't hesitate to call on me for anything that will help you get through this difficult time.

Tough to think I won't be getting calls from Rob. My last conversation with him was being over the moon about a review he wrote of the stupidly loud speaker he bought for Zoe to enjoy. His love for her & those around him were immense. He always had a great story to share, even if it was made up. Can't express how lucky I was to know him & how much he will be missed. Pictured here falling asleep mid story while waiting on the company to wrap & get everyone home safe

I'm sorry for your loss. I had the great fortune to work with Rob when he was in Utah, on Stephen King's "The Stand," on High School Musical 2 and Granite Flats.

Dearest Martha, Please accept my heartfelt condolences to you and your family. I vividly remember your wisdom, sensitivity, motherly love, encouragement and devotion to both Robert and his brother, Michael; you raised them as a single mother back in the 1970's. and eighties, while working full-time to support them, and later provided them with the best education and example of how to live and treat others. You must be very proud of their accomplishments and their outstanding character. Abraham Lincoln said: "All that I am or hope to be I owe to my mother." He also said:" Live a good life. and in the end, it's not the years in the life, it's the life in the years." Take care of yourself and keep on keeping on. David
