Robert Trapp Obituary

Robert Trapp passed away peacefully on October 25, 2017, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his two daughters, Marjorie Trapp (Seth Strumph) and Ellen Daly (Frank Daly), and his five doting grandchildren, Otto, Frances, Buck, Violet, and Trudy, as well as his two brothers, John Trapp (Martha Trapp) and Dennis Trapp (Nancy Trapp). Born in 1943, Bob grew up in Anaheim and studied civil engineering at UC Berkeley. After graduating in 1965, he worked for Mobil Oil during the Vietnam War and went on to work for the County of Orange for several years. For the majority of Bob's career, he served as Vice President of Forward Planning at JM Peters Co. In 1967 he married Cristine Albright of Orange, CA. Though the marriage ended in divorce, the two remained close. Cris and Bob raised their family in Newport Beach, CA, where Bob lived for many years. Aside from his time at Berkeley, Bob lived in Orange County his entire life. He loved the beach, surfing, skiing, and good wine. Although firmly rooted in California, Bob loved to travel. In his twenties he took a three-month car-camping tour through Europe with his young family. In later years he visited England, Australia, and the South of France as well as many parts of the United States, and he took a number of surfing trips to Hawaii, Mexico, and Fiji with the close circle of friends he kept since junior high school. Soon after Bob's receiving a diagnosis of Alzheimer's four years ago, his daughter Ellie moved in with him, and she and her family have been by Bob's side every day since. Bob's enthusiasm and love for his family and friends were simply amazing. He touched many lives with his generosity, warmth, kind spirit, and understated sense of humor. Bob went above and beyond anytime anyone needed anything. His enduring love and support for his family and friends were true gifts that those who had the good fortune to know him will always remember. His daughters and grandkids miss him terribly.
