Born November 17th, 1927 in Redondo Beach to Gomer J. and Helen F. Sims, Roland Wesley Sims passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home in San Clemente, Saturday, January 11, 2003. Roland served his country in the U.S. Navy and went on to graduate from UCLA in 1952. He was a member of Kappa Sigma and earned his degree in business. His professional life centered around a life long love of golf. He managed family owned Meadowlark Country Club in Huntington Beach and was a partner in Singing Hills Country Club in El Cajon. Roland will be remembered for his sense of humor and exceptional play on the 19th hole. Woolly, woolly! Roland is survived by his wife of 30 years, Carolina; his children, Gary, Preston, Keely Ann, Rob and Lynn; grandchildren Christopher, Daniel, Georgia, Josh and Jamie. Services for Roland will be held Saturday, January 18th at 12 noon at Pacific View Memorial Park Chapel in Corona Del Mar (949-644-2700), followed by a reception at his home in San Clemente.
