Salter , Rose November 21, 1923 - March 9, 2012 Rosie was Born in Los Angeles, on November 21,1923, the daughter of Anna and Harry Solnit. She grew up in Venice Beach and Boyle Heights and Graduated from Roosevelt High School. In 1941 she married her childhood sweetheart Frank Salter (1923 -1976) and they became part of the Occidental College Community. Their first son Dick Salter was born October 4, 1944 and died June 6,1960 of childhood leukemia. Rosie helped found the Dick Salter Chapter City of Hope and raised millions of dollars for the Charity. In 1951 the Salters moved to Burbank where she was a founding member of the Temple Emanuel, cub scout den mother, PTA chairman, girl scout leader and member of the B'nai Brith. She lived in Sherman Oaks from 1966 until 2004 when she moved to the families long time Beach House on Balboa Island where she loved boating, parties, and talking to her friends as they passed by on the boardwalk. She died Friday evening March 9, 2012 at home with loved ones. She is survived by her brother Dr. Albert Solnit, her children Sharon, Bradley and Randy Salter and grandchildren Eric and Tori Balfour. Funeral Services will be held at Mount Sinai Memorial Park Hollywood Hills on Forest Lawn Dr. on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at 12:00pm.
