Rosemary Babbitt IHM

November 30, 1926 - November 5, 2021 Rosemary Babbitt, IHM (Sister Catherine Rose) was an essential and inspirational part of the Immaculate Heart Community. When she entered religious life 75 years ago she could not have known how our way of life would change, calling us to live lives of contemporary relevance with integrity and courage. She never faltered. As gracefully as landing a fish she so often happily caught, she walked into an uncertain but surely blessed future. Every one of the 10 schools in British Columbia, Arizona, Los Angeles and San Diego where she taught or administered produced children who knew they mattered and were meant to improve our world. Her favorite artwork by our Sister Corita says "The best is yet to be." We will put that on her memorial card when we offer a Mass of Thanksgiving for her in January at the chapel of Immaculate Heart High School. Her funeral was held December 3 at Mission San Diego de Alcala attended by her many nieces and nephews.
