Rosemary Riggio Obituary

June 25, 1930 - October 3, 2013 Rosemary Riggio was born in Omaha, Nebraska to Mr. and Mrs. EJ Velder on June 25, 1930. She was raised in Bonesteel, South Dakota, where she attended high school. She studied at South Dakota State and returned to Omaha and entered nurse's training at St. Joseph Hospital. She met her future husband, Dr. Eugene Riggio and was married in 1953. After a tour in the Navy, they lived in Temple City while Dr. Riggio took residency training in Anesthesiology at Los Angeles County General Hospital. They moved to Whittier in 1961, where they raised their three children, Stephen, Ronald and Angela. Rosemary was an avid gardener and golfer, playing at California Country Club and Friendly Hills Country Club. She was past president of the Beverly Hospital Guild and was an active member of the Whittier Assistance League, Meals on Wheels, and Whittier P.E.O. Besides her children and their spouses Rosemary is survived by five grandchildren. Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary's of the Assumption Catholic church in Whittier at 9:30 AM on October 18, 2013.

Rosemary was pure class. She was always elegant, kind and sincere. I loved working with her on projects with the Beverly Hospital Guild. She will be missed.
