Stephen Snyder Obituary

Steve passed away peacefully and surrounded by his three children in San Diego, CA on May 4, 2025, several weeks after his 88th birthday.
Born and raised in New Jersey, Steve married his college sweetheart, Harriet Lehrer, and had their son Jeffrey on the East Coast. Steve studied mechanical engineering and went to work as an aeronautical engineer. The young family moved to Seattle where he worked for Boeing. After having their daughters, Lauren and Karen, the family moved to Los Angeles where they settled in.
Steve loved airplanes and aviation. After many years working for large companies, he launched his own consulting firm, becoming a respected expert in airplane accident reconstruction and FAA certification.
He enjoyed fishing, boating, and camping in his earlier years, and waterfront timeshares in his later years. He was a huge Dodgers fan (Brooklyn and LA!) and avid dog owner-the family pets brought Steve and Harriet great joy and companionship over the years.
Above all, Steve was a dedicated family man who valued giving life lessons and teachable moments, as well as providing education and business advice to his children and grandchildren. He had a thoughtful explanation for everything, and funny stories and impressions to share.
Steve is predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Harriet. He is survived by his sisters Joan Snyder and Suellen Snyder, son Jeffrey Snyder and daughter-in-law Jeanese; daughter Lauren and son-in-law Mark Salamy; daughter Karen Soren; and seven grandchildren: Natalie, David, Michael, Joe, Timmy, James, and Will. We will miss Steve greatly.
No public services will be held. Donations may be made in Steve's memory to the Los Angeles Humane Society or the charity of your choice.
