Sylvia Dyck Obituary

Dyck, Sylvia Zelda Nadel Passed away Thursday evening July 25th at the age of 73. She lived in Thousand Oaks and after a long fight with cancer she passed quietly and peacefully in her home surrounded by family and friends. Sylvia was born December 20, 1939, in Brooklyn, New York, to parents Abraham and Marsha Nadel. She has one sibling Eugene Nadel and many cousins. Sylvia started a long successful career with TERRAP in 1973. She helped many overcome an assortment of fears and anxieties in a variety of ordinary activities such as driving, going to malls, and flying in airplanes. Sylvia was interviewed many times for newspapers and television programs because of her special talent in helping people. She retired in 2004 due to cancer. She focused on her family and extensive travel with Victor to many wonderful places such as Africa, Europe, Asia, and their favorite getaway to Cambria on weekends. Sylvia is survived by her husband Victor. They were married on March 7, 1999, in a beautiful ceremony at their home surrounded by close family and friends. She is also survived by daughter Jennifer; son Matt; stepsons Christopher, Michael, Robert; daughters in law Lisa, Jennifer, Jaime; grandchildren Kailey, Zachary, Ryan, Shay, Jessi, Lucas, Joshua, Olivia, Chloe, and Jacob; and sisters in law Irene, Erika, Karin. Also survived by brother Eugene, sister in law Marcia, nieces Sharon and Debbie, and many other cousins. Sylvia was loved and cherished by all who knew her and especially by her many close friends. She will always live in our hearts because she lived without prejudice and loved all without judgment. Mount Sinai Memorial Parks and Mortuaries Simi Valley 800-600-0076

Sylvia was a wonderful aunt, warm and funny and brash and intelligent, usually all at once. I enjoyed the too short time that she was close enough to spend time with. I will miss her and the very special spark she brought to our family.

My favorite aunt among many. Cherished memories are too numerous to list. She was a teacher even when she was unaware of it. And what she taught mattered: kindness, generosity, patience, love. The shock will take a while to wear off. And I will remember her forever.
