Ulpio Minucci Obituary
(89), resident of Los Angeles, California, passed away March 9, 2007, at his home in Brentwood.
Born in Italy on June 29, 1917, he studied at Santa Cecilia Music Conservatory in Rome, graduated from the Conservatory of Music in Palermo, Italy, and eventually became a concert pianist and composer. Mr. Minucci also held a doctorate of Law from the University of Palermo.
Composer of such pop music classics as Domani (performed by Julius LaRosa and Bing Crosby), A Thousand Thoughts of You, and Make Me (sung by Nat King Cole). Music scoring projects included the ABC-TV series, 'Saga of Western Man,' the animated TV/DVD series, 'Robotech,' and many other TV, film, and stage projects.
During his 12 years at CBS Records, Mr. Minucci was Director of Music for Theater, Motion Pictures & Television at CBS International, also worked in Artists & Repertoire (A & R), in addition to working at April Blackwood Music Publishing.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Catherine Minucci, also of Brentwood, his daughter Nina Minucci of Marlborough, New Hampshire, and his son Chieli Minucci of Forest Hills, New York, as well as three grandchildren.

ULPIO WAS A FRIEND TO ME WHEN I WAS A YOUNG TEENAGER. I will miss Ulpio very much! I was privileged to spend time with him on several occasions singing his Robotech songs as Lynn Minmei. In between rehearsing he would play me many of his other songs. Sometimes we'd even drink wine and laugh together. He was a very special and wonderful man!

It is amazing to me how we touch each other. We live our lives, we do our jobs, and I don't think we have any idea how widespread our influence can be. Ulpio was a treasured friend, I am so lucky to have known him, and reading over all of these entries, I realize that Ulpio touched lives around the world--he touched hearts and minds, he made people smile, he gave them joy... he was really something!

Thank you all for some really lovely words about my Dad. He certainly did write some beautiful music! He passed away in his sleep, very peacefully, not ill, but really just from old age. he was about to turn 90.

I was deeply saddened upon hearing the news of Mr. Minucci's death.
For years while I was growing up, his music had a big influence on my life (and still does). I will always remember the beautiful, uplifting,
haunting, and sorrowful tunes he created. I hope that his music will
continue to inspire generations to come.

My condolences to the family of Mr. Minucci. He leaves behind a great legacy in Robotech; his beautiful, moving themes brought a life and gravity to the series that would not have been possible with a mediocre score. His music touched my childhood and life and that of many others in this way that cannot be expressed in words.
Music is perhaps the purest art form, like a window directly to the heart and soul, and Ulpio's was truly great. I wish I could have met him.

I´m a huge fan of the ROBOTECH series, I live in Venezuela were there´s a great base of followers of the 80´s series.
For some estrange reason one of the names I remember the most when reading the credits of Robotech in my mind always was ULPIO MINUCCI, and reading He was the composer of that incredibly powerfull theme always struck my imagination. I will always remember his name and work.

Just as I enjoyed your music via the Robotech animated series, so do my two sons. We sit down together and watch the shows on DVD every Saturday and listen to the soundtrack on our way to school. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.

The loss of Mr. Minucci saddens me deeply. I have been a long time fan of Robotech and I can seriously say that without his contrabutions to it's music, it would not be the show I have come to know and love. He was a man of great talent and his absence diminishes the world in which we live. He has touched many lives, mine included, with his music. I will not forget him.
