Vernon Windette Obituary

Windette, Vernon G.
Born March 14, 1922 in Los Angeles, California. Passed away August 15, 2004 in Kingman, Arizona. Vern lived most of his life in the San Fernando Valley (graduated from Van Nuys High in 1942) until about eleven years ago when he moved to Kingman, Arizona for retirement. His occupation would be best described as an entrepreneur. He started and owned numerous businesses such as tire companies, scrap metal recycling companies and during the fifties owned and operated most of the Christmas tree lots in the San Fernando Valley. The last twenty years he spent playing poker, his hobby and passion. His business card stated "Poker Player" and one of his most common remarks was "It's not the best hand that matters, only the winning hand." Dad's smile, wink, one liners and sense of humor will be truly missed and remembered by his loving family; his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. May you forever enjoy playing the big poker game, with your friends in heaven. Services will be held at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home, 1701 Sycamore Avenue, Kingman, Arizona, 86401 on Saturday, August 21 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association, Memorial Donations, 800-242-8721 in memory of Vern.
