Born April 5, 1916 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Passed away March 15, 2002 of congestive heart failure. California resident for more than 50 years. Legendary dermatologist in private practice for more than 50 years. Clinical Professor of Medicine/Dermatology at University of California, Los Angeles for more than 40 years. Esteemed and beloved educator, mentor to physicians and students throughout the city and state. Dedicated to his patients and to issues supporting patients' rights to be treated by the physician of their choice. Dedicated to conservation, preservation of water sources, wildlife and plants. His contributions to his patients, students and to the field of medicine were immeasurable - and speak volumes as to the quality of human being he was. Quality of excellence was the standard in all that he did. Survived by beloved wife Kathryn; sister Connie Griffith; daughters Diane Langmuir and Jennifer Jordan; son Donald and his wife Beth; and grandchildren Molly, Clayton and Tyson. Memorial services for Dr. Newcomer will take place Friday, April 5, at 1 PM at Serra Retreat Center, 3401 Serra Road (off Pacific Coast Highway), Malibu. Due to limited parking at the Retreat, please plan to carpool to memorial.
