Wanda STEIN Obituary

Dec 17, 1936 - Aug 18, 2021Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother Wanda Lee Stein died peacefully at home in Rancho Mirage August 18, 2021. She was born in Britton, South Dakota and raised in the nearby smaller town of Veblen. She was the daughter of Roy and Bee Eggleston. At age 9, she moved to Los Angeles, California with her parents and siblings Hope and Larry.Wanda grew up in Los Angeles. She attended UCLA and went on to work in aerospace, construction and real estate, co-founding a boutique development firm in 1972. In 1963, she met the love of her life, Donald Stein. They were married in 1968 and recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary.Wanda was an extraordinarily bright student of life. She read 4 newspapers daily. She always had a book in hand. She loved to discuss politics and world affairs. A world traveler, she and Don travelled to most corners of the world. She also was incredibly generous. She was involved in various charities and support groups including as President of the Trojan League Associates of the Desert (TLAD). In every arena she stood out with her support and guidance including LACMA, Palm Springs Art Museum, McCallum Theater (Muses) and working on governor and presidential election campaigns. In addition, she supported the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission, Barbara Sinatra Children's Center (President of Affiliates), International Classical Concerts, as well as others.She leaves behind her husband, Donald Stein, her two children, Shannon Perkins (Rick), Michael Gargiulo (Agnes), grandchildren Chris Perkins (Lisa), Cooper Perkins, and great granddaughter Megan Perkins.The world is a darker place for Wanda's passing. She was dynamic and caring. She impacted the lives of all those around her. She shall be sorely missed. And never forgotten.
