William Bloomfield Obituary
Passed away on Tuesday, February 24th at the age of 90. He was born in Los Angeles, where he lived his entire life, attending local schools and graduating from UCLA with a degree in Economics. In 1939, Bill married Lorraine Plummer. They have one daughter, Carole Bloomfield Etzel, who resides in Topeka, Kansas. In 1946, Bill married Margaret (Peggy) Meyer and they have two children: Joanne Bloomfield Hunter and William E. Bloomfield, Jr. Bill and Peggy have been married for almost 58 years and share 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Bill leaves an older sister, Betty Haddon. As a young man, Bill worked several years for the Bell Telephone Company. In 1947, Bill and Peggy started Web Service Company, which grew to be one of the largest held commercial laundry companies in the country. Bill was a pioneer in fighting for non-smokers' rights and was a strong supporter of the Westwood Village Rotary Club, his church, the Westside YMCA, UCLA and The Music Center. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 29th, at 2:30 p.m. at the Westwood United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Parkinson Disease Association, 10850 Wilshire Blvd., Ste. 730, Los Angeles 90024, or to a favorite charity. My heart goes out to the family and friends of Mr. Bloomfield. I did not know Mr. Bloomfield very well. What I do know is Mr. Bloomfield was smart and creative. More importantly he was kind to a fault. Mr. Bloomfield was kind to me. Thank your
