Carter, William A.
January 19, 1932 - January 4, 2010
Bill Carter, 77, beloved husband to Carolyn, father to Dave, Matt, Tim and Joe and grandfather to 11 grandchildren, passed away on January 4th, 2010.

Bill maintained a long career with Ernst & Young where he served as the Managing Partner in Indianapolis before accepting the appointment to serve as Vice Chairman and Managing Partner of the Western Region of the firm. He and Carolyn thoroughly enjoyed their years in Los Angeles until his retirement from the firm in 1991. He passionately served his community wherever he lived, and was honored to serve the LA area as a Board Director of the California Chamber of Commerce, the United Way and the Music Center, along with several other organizations. He also was sought after and served in critical corporate governance roles for educational and charitable institutions, notably including Butler University, Purdue University, Goodwill Enterprises, the Indianapolis Zoological Society, and many others. In 1980, Bill was elected to the Ball State University Hall of Fame and was later given that university?s highest honor - Distinguished Alumnus.

His wife Carolyn, four sons Dave (Jill), Matt (Leslie), Tim (Colleen), and Joe (Greg), and ten grandchildren Emily, Mallory, Casey, Elliott, AJ, Katelin, Elizabeth, Abigail, Katherine, and Sam, and his brother Richard (Linda) of Noblesville, survive Bill. He is preceded in death by Ben (grandson).
