William Clark Obituary

William "Sandy" Clark, M.D.

Dr. William "Sandy" Clark, a skilled surgeon, passionate sailor, devoted husband, father, and friend, passed away on February 20, 2025, at the age of 91 in Marina del Rey, California.
He was born in 1933 in London, England and raised in Durban, RSA. Sandy's love for the sea shaped his life. A lifeguard, surfer, and sailor, he carried that spirit through his medical career and sailing adventures. He was known for his sharp wit, no-nonsense leadership, and deep generosity-whether guiding his surgical patients with skill and compassion or welcoming committed crew members aboard his beloved 44-foot racing sloop, Quamichan.
Sandy was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn, and is survived by his sons, Greg and Peter, their wives, Amy and Liana, and his grandchildren, Colin, Evan, Delani, and Lindsay.
After a day on the water, he would raise a rum and Coke and say, "It doesn't get any better than this." Truer words were never spoken.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Sandy and Marilyn were dear friends from our gym, LA Fitness. They were two of the finest people ever, kind and caring, and Sandy had a sharp, wry sense of humor. Even though I was not his patient he left me in stitches many a time. They are sorely missed. Deepest sympathies to their sons and their families.

My heartfelt sympathy to your family and friends over the loss of Dr. Clark. I never met him, but he sounds like a loving father/grandfather, very skilled surgeon, a hoot to be around and quite a sailor. May he remain forever in your hearts and minds and rest perfectly at Home with our Father in Heaven. God bless you all and may God lessen your pain and sadness as only He can and will at this time.
Sincerely, Darlene Clark Murphy
