Bill Rundle passed away peacefully at his home Saturday morning, April 15, 2006, in the loving arms of Sunny Miller, surrounded by members of the family he cherished. He had chronic lymphocytic leukemia`, but suffered few symptoms until recent months. Bill had an irrepressible zest for life that continued after the death of his wife of 46 years, Sarah Adams, in 1995. They met at Northwestern University, married in her hometown of Higginsville, Mo., and moved to Santa Monica in 1949. In 1952, they built a house in the hills where they raised three children. Bill was born in 1929 and was brought up with his brother, Lew, by foster parents at a farm near Flat Rock, Ill. He attended Morgan Park Military Academy (class of '43), Northwestern and UCLA, B.A. (1951), M.B.A. (1978). Bill spent his entire career with Prudential Insurance Co., working at the Western home office and then as a brokerage manager. He was a member of the American Society of CLU & ChFC. Bill is survived by his longtime friend, Sunny Miller; three children, Rhonda L. Rundle, W. Donovan Rundle Jr., and Ellen B. Rundle; six grandchildren, Carmen Caserta, Emma Ruth Rundle, Anton Caserta, Sarah Ray Rundle, Bret Rundle Thacher and Ryan Rundle Thacher; and his brother Lewis G. Rundle. Memorial service 1:30 p.m., Sun., April 23, 2006, at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village, 1218 Glendon Ave., followed by a reception at Bill's home. The family suggests that memorials be sent to the Foundation Fighting Blindness, which supports research for Retinitis Pigmentosa.
