BLOWING ROCK — Anne Shuford McBryde, 102, longtime resident of Gibson and Blowing Rock, peacefully entered eternal life on Sept. 18, 2016. Her loving and devoted daughters, Anne and Barbara, were by her side at the time of passing.
Anne was born on Nov. 8, 1913 in Conover to Adrian Lafayette and Annie Warlick Shuford. She was predeceased by her spouses William McKenzie and Gaston McBryde; her parents; her siblings Adrian L. Shuford Jr. (Dorothy Lewis-Griffith survives), Mary Shuford Palmer and Betty Shuford Yount; and is survived by her brother, Henry Shuford (Nancy).
"Grannie Annie", as she was affectionately known, took great delight in her family, including her two daughters, Anne Shuford McKenzie and Barbara McKenzie Scott (Jim); three grandchildren, Robin Harvey (Jennifer Brown), Margaret Lawrence (Jamie), and Kathy Rummage (Abe); and six great-grandchildren, Elise, Michael and William Harvey, Gavin Lawrence, and Brodie and Mack Rummage.
A memorial service celebrating Anne's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24 at Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church in Blowing Rock.
A second memorial service will be held at Laurinburg Presbyterian Church in Laurinburg at a date to be announced in the near future.
Donations honoring Anne's memory may be made to: Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church in Blowing Rock, NC; St. Andrews University in Laurinburg and Laurinburg Presbyterian Church.
Hampton Funeral Service in Blowing Rock, NC is in charge of the services.

God has given us a life span of 70 and 80 years if we are strong. Psalms 90:10. Anne brought joy and happiness to the lives of many. May we celebrate and cherish a life of longevity who was loved by many. Annie C. Ga.

I had the pleasure in knowing Mrs. Anne McBryde. She was a very intellectual lady who had a classy sense of pride, poise, and kindness around all those around her. She truly had a fulfilling life. God Bless her
