LAURINBURG — Anthony ("Tony") John Ciarrocca passed away February 3rd, 2024 at the age of 86.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lou Lassiter Ciarrocca, and his brother, Angelo Ciarrocca. Left to treasure his memory are loving wife Nelma Graham Ciarrocca of Laurinburg, NC, son Mark Ciarrocca and wife Kathryn Brown Ciarrocca of Wilmington, NC, and their children Johnathan Ciarrocca of Boone, NC and Lila Ciarrocca of Wilmington, NC, and son, Brian Ciarrocca and wife Melisa Cox Ciarrocca of Laurinburg, NC and their daughter Dr. Anna Lisa Ciarrocca Hudson of Clemmons, NC (Andrew) and son Charles "Grant" Ciarrocca of Wilmington, NC; his brother, Carmen Ciarrocca of Mechanicsburg, PA; and sisters Rosemary Lecluse-Ciarrocca of Holland, and Karen Markle of Oakfield, NY. He also leaves behind his wife's two sons and grandson.
Tony was born into a loving Italian home in Huntingdon, PA on January 16, 1938. Following high school, he was recruited to join the FBI in Washington, DC, where he met his first wife, Lou. They later relocated to Roanoke Rapids, NC and Tony began his career in the textile industry. His career advancement to plant manager at JP Stevens led to various opportunities in Rockingham, Laurinburg, Goldsboro and Griffin, GA. During this time, he married Nelma Graham. Upon retirement, Tony and Nelma returned to Laurinburg, NC to be closer to family and Tony began a small landscaping business, which he continued until his death.
Tony was a charismatic man who touched the lives of many people. He enjoyed a variety of hobbies including hunting, fishing, watching sports, NASCAR, playing golf, gardening, and being a part of the Pee Dee Antique Power Club in Laurinburg. His loyal dog, Buster, could be seen accompanying him on many outings in his truck. He was a loving brother, father, and grandfather and found great joy in family gatherings and being part of his grandchildren's lives. Church became a central part of Tony and Nelma's life where they developed many lasting friendships and served many in the community.
A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the New Hope Baptist Church of Laurinburg. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
