Rosetta Chavis Obituary
LAURINBURG —Rosetta Bullard Chavis, 87, of Laurinburg passed into her Heavenly Home on Monday, July 23, 2018.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 26 at Gray Pond Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Stewartsville Cemetery.
Rosetta was born April 17, 1931in Robeson County, the loving daughter of the late Gaynell Bullard of Laurinburg. She served as a faithful member of Gray Pond Baptist Church. Rosetta dedicated her life to caring for children. She enjoyed reading, singing and gardening. Spending time with her family was her greatest joy. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who will truly be missed.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by the father of her children, John Archie Chavis; brother, Kim J. Locklear; sisters, Juanita Johnson, Helen Locklear; grandson, Matthew Sampson, great-grandchildren, Christopher Oxendine and Aidan Oxendine-Harris.
She leaves behind her sons, Vardell Bullard (Joann) of Maxton; Donnie Chavis (Cindy) of Laurinburg; daughters, Rita Chavis Oxendine (Ashley), Linda Chavis Dial, all of Rowland; Gwen Chavis Locklear of Laurinburg; Kathy Chavis Sampson (Terry) of Rowland; brothers, James Earl Locklear of Pembroke; James L. Locklear of Red Springs; Floyd Locklear of Greensboro; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; a host of loving nieces, nephews, special friend and caretaker, Carolyn Locklear and a host of loving family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
The family requests in lieu of flowers memorial donations to be made to Gray Pond Baptist Church, Senior Adult Class, Laurinburg, NC 28352.
