Daniel Fillet Obituary

Daniel William Fillet 1911-2010 Daniel William Fillet was born June 10, 1911 in Los Angeles, California to Jea n Bautiste Fillet and Inez Elizalde. After high school, Daniel returned to Los Angeles where he worked as a longshoreman and, ultimately, in the meat packing industry for 50 years. In 1956, he founded Kitty Queen Pet Foods and became a pet food pioneer by introducing the first 6-ounce cat food can to the market. He was married to his beloved wife, Margaret, for 50 years. Together they raised five children and enjoyed many grandchildren and the pleasures of family life. Daniel's favorite past times included spending time with his family and friends, fishing, gardening and exercising regularly at the Los Angeles Athletic Club where he was an active member for 50 years. Undoubtedly his most cherished and happiest times were spent with his children and many grandchildren. Our universally admired family patriarch died peacefully of natural causes with his family by his side on February 28, 2010 at the age of 98. He is survived by his adoring wife, Margaret, and his 5 children Danny, Gina, Stephen, Charmaine and Vi ncent. Daniel was also fortunate enough to be graced with 11 grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. Memorial services were held at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona Del Mar, CA on Tuesday March 9, 2010.

This pic was taken years ago. Thought someone might enjoy seeing it.Fillet Family. Alex and Mabel and her children, Joyce, Janet, Willie and Larry and their spouses. Also, Daniel and Manuel Fillet and their spouses. There are a few other people in the pic but I'm not sure of the names.

My grandpa was Alex Fillet, the brother to Daniel Fillet. I haven't seen the Fillet family since my grandpa died but I've always thought about the Fillet's and what a great family they are. My condolences to the family. I'm sure he'll be missed deeply. Suzanne Waltman
