Edgar Fleming Obituary

Edgar Byers Fleming Edgar Byers Fleming was born in Long Beach on August 24, 1931 and passed away on February 1, 2011. He was the son of David and Mary Fleming and the twin brother of William Glenn Fleming, all of whom preceded him in death. After graduating from Wilson High School in 1949, he attended Long Beach City College and then served two years in the Navy gaining his construction vocation through the Seabees. In 1968, he partnered with two friends to form Impact Equipment Rental. The company was dissolved when he retired in 1993. He was a 60-year member of the Operating Engineers, Local 12. He was a lifetime member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Long Beach, where he served as an elder, sang in the choir, played trombone in the band and volunteered his time with many projects. In addition to being an avid reader and train enthusiast, he enjoyed time with his family and loved to work on his 1915 Model T Ford. He was a past member of the Long Beach Model T Club. Edgar is survived by his wife, Elaine; his son, David; daughter-in-law, Judy; granddaughter, Taylor; his daughter, Annette; son-in-law, Michael; and grandson, Jacob. Memorial services will be held at the First United Presbyterian Church of Long Beach, 600 E. 5th St. on Sunday, February 27 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be given to the church in memory of Edgar.
