Guy Gagnon Obituary

Guy Gagnon Guy Gagnon, age 75, of Long Beach, California, died on October 5, 2009, after a four year battle with cancer. Born in Sherbrook, Canada, in Quebec Province, he was the son of Eugene and Lucille, a U.S. citizen. Guy moved to California in his mid-twenties, and became a successful realtor and b uilder. He founded Guy Gagnon Construction in Long Beach, and built hundreds of homes, apartment buildings, and condominiums throughout the South Bay. As President of Gagnon Construction, Guy also founded GJG Contractors of which Jerry Pedigo, President, and his staff staff will continue the tradition of fairness and honesty that Guy was so famous for. Guy leaves his wife, Yvonne Winer Gagnon; his daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Greg Johnson; his grandchildren, Adam Wysocki and Eric Johnson; and one bro ther and two sisters. He also leaves a legacy of trust and friendship with many of the past Mayors of Long Beach as well as business leaders, contractors, and homeowners. His life was a lesson in positive thinking. Even as his sickness progressed, he was making plans for a mini vacation with Yvonne - always positive that he would beat this disease. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted in his name at Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, 1441 Eastlake Ave., Room 8302, Los Angeles, California 90033, o r online at http://usnorriscancer.usc.edu/support. A celebration of Guy's life will be held on Saturday, October 17th from 11:00 - 2:00 at the Long Beach Yacht Club, 6201 Appian Way, Long Beach, Ca. Directions to the club are on their website - www.lbyc.org. A light lunch will be served. All are welcome.

Memories and Condolences
for Guy Gagnon

Not sure what to say?

October 18, 2009

Guy, God saw you were getting tired,
And a cure was not to be.
So he put his arms around you
And whispered "come to me".

With tearful eyes we watched,
And saw you pass away.
Although we loved you dearly,
we could not make you stay.

A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove
to us, He only takes the best.
Your Loving Sister,
Lisa Gagnon (Hemet, CA)

Yvonne, Louise, Greg, Adam & Erik,

Guy is at peace, no more suffering, no more pain. May your memories comfort you during this time of grief. You are in our thoughts and prayers. An olde Irish wish for you...

May the raindrops fall lightly on your brow
May the soft winds freshen your spirit
May the sunshine brighten your heart
May the burdens of the day rest lightly upon you
And may God enfold you in the mantle of His love.

Sincerely,
Tom and Jan Caveney and Family

I will never forget the wonderful impression Guy and Yvonne made on my son and I when we first met them. Guy had this great big welcoming SMILE on his face, and he never lost it, each time the family got together. He was quite a "GUY". He will be missed.

Our cousin will be missed and we send our sympathies to the family. Guy was a fun-loving person and we enjoyed all of our visits although infrequent. He never lost his Canadian heritage or accent. He will be missed.
