Terry Wynne Obituary

May 30, 1955 - April 17, 2021 Terry Wynne, 65, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away Saturday morning, April 17, 2021 in his home in Henderson. Terry was born in Minnesota, but grew up in Long Beach, California. He attended St. Matthew Elementary, St. Anthony and Wilson High Schools, playing football and wrestling, graduating in 1973. Terry went on to Golden West College and Cal State Long Beach, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics in 1978. Terry went to work for IBM Corporation out of college, where he learned about enterprise computing. He was not cut out for corporate life, so he left IBM and went to work as a computer programmer for Tool Crib, an equipment rental company in Pasadena. Terry's amazing attention to detail and business acumen helped him learn the rental business quickly and develop custom software to run the business. This software developed a new niche and a new company with Terry as the Technology Officer. Terry traveled all over North America installing his software and becoming the widely known expert in rental. After 10 years, and with tremendous expertise, Terry struck out on his own and formed Wynne Systems with his sister Marlene, an IBM sales veteran and serial software entrepreneur. Terry decided early in life that "if you're going to do something, put the bow on it!" This was his way of encouraging people to finish strong and he was known for excellence and brilliant achievement. Terry married his wife, Laura in 1991, and their two sons, Terry Jr. and Matt, arrived in 1998 and 1999. Terry's focus on clear, easy to use management reporting was transformative for the equipment rental business. Terry developed an integrated rental system that supported the national rental consolidation trend. At one time, eight of the top 10 rental companies in the world utilized Wynne Systems' software. Bradley Jacobs, former CEO of United Rentals, said this: " Wynne Systems, that we bought early on at United Rentals, made powerful software (Rentalman).....that we used to integrate all the rental businesses we rolled up into the company. We couldn't have done the hundreds of acquisitions we did without RentalMan" In 1998, Terry, Marlene and two key employee/partners Dave Deaton and Barry Basiliere sold the company to United Rentals, and Terry retired at the age of 43, determined to spend more time with his family. He made his family his primary focus for the past 20 years. Terry was known for his generosity and support of the Long Beach community, especially towards St. Anthony High School and Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. He leaves a legacy through his family, through his innovative ideas which underpin rental equipment pricing and utilization to this day, and through the many lives he helped transform along the way. Terry was preceded in death by his father, Terrence (Ted) Wynne and his mother, Wylma Bjelland Wynne. Terry is survived by his wife, Laura and their two boys, Terry and Matt, as well as his sister, Marlene Moncure and her husband, Bill; Ted and Michele Moncure and their children, Max, Ivan, and Jack as well as Nick and Alise Moncure and their children, Madeline and Isabelle; and Terry's beloved dog, Roxy. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at St. Matthew Catholic Church of Long Beach at 11 am. Chapman Funeral Home 702 E Chapman Ave, Orange, CA 92866 (714) 628-0447

Terry was such a Fantastic Man. A True Family Man. I remember how much He and Laura wanted a Family. He got it later than he would have liked. But when Terry Jr. was born Terry told me that Terry Jr. being born on the day his Dad died made his worse day now his best day. He was elated. He truly loves Laura, Terry, and Matt.
He treated everyone in a caring way as family even if you weren´t blood related that didn´t matter. If Terry came into your life and you became part of his Family he taught you by example how to be a better human. Always standing up for what he thought was right.
If someone said something to put him or those he love down he always had a witty come back.
I was and am so Blessed to have Terry as a my Cousin. He has helped me many times in many ways.
He was always the funnest guy in the room.
I miss him so much
I pray everyday for his tight knit family unit especially because I know how much I miss him. So I can only imagine not seeing him on a day to day basis which the had would be so hard.
Terry would want us all to continue to have our best lives and be there for Family no matter what that looks like.
I´m send Lots of Love to each and everyone of you in Terry´s Name.
Put a Bow on it.
God Bless the Wynne and Moncure Families in all Aspects. In the name of Jesus Christ Amen.

Terry had a profound influence on his family, his business, his community and the world. He and Laura were there for me with generosity and solutions in my time of need. This is who Terry was and who he and Laura were as a couple. My love and admiration for them has no bounds. Well done good and faithful servant.

CARLENE A KIRKLAND

May 9, 2021

I am so sorry to hear about Terry's passing. My name is Carlene and I was his next door neighbor growing up. Our mothers were the best of friends and actually Vera Kissling (DeLeske on Stanley Ave) and Terry both went home on the morning of April 17, 2021. This is how I found out about Terry's death as their obituaries are together in today's Press Telegram. I want to believe that Wylma was there to greet both of them in glory!
Our lives went different directions but I heard from my mom, as she continued to visit Wylma for decades of how proud she was of her chidren and praised the success of both Terry and Marlene.
God bless your entire family and know that Linda (my sis) and I are thinking of you during your (and our) difficult time.
P.S. FYI, I remember Wylma as beautiful woman and friend to my mother. She was always kind to the neighborhood. The little things we remember....
