Charles Rothwell Obituary

Following a 4 year battle with cancer, Charles Rothwell passed away peacefully at the family home in Las Cruces, NM on June 26, 2013 at 9:15 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Covenant Church, 3111 N. Main Street in Las Cruces with Pastor Douglas Coyle officiating. Graveside services will follow at the Masonic Cemetery in Las Cruces, directed by Getz Funeral Home. Charles was born on August 28, 1942 in Walters, Oklahoma to Edward F. Rothwell and Margaret McKnight Rothwell. He married the love of his life, Beverly June Tandy, on September 10, 1966 in Lubbock, Texas. He graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech University and was a licensed, professional engineer. He retired from the City of Hobbs in 2008. He was very active in Lions Club International and was a current member of the Las Cruces Noon Lions Club. He had over 30 years of perfect attendance and service with the Lions and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Charles was passionate about his garden and enjoyed golf, bowling, hunting and spending time with his wife and family. He and Beverly attended music festivals, car shows and many other events as often as possible, and always together. Charles was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Ronald E. Rothwell and Larry M. Rothwell. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Rothwell of Las Cruces; two daughters, Tara Rothwell-Clark and her husband Jason Clark of Las Cruces, and Amber Rothwell of Austin, Texas; one grandson, Javin B. Clark (8) of Las Cruces and four grand dogs, Crosby, Dominoes, Jigsaw and Rho.
