Danny Chernewski Obituary

Born on November 29, 1949 in Laconia, NH to Boleshaw H. and Phyllis E. Varrell Chernewski ; Danny (Dan) Chernewski, son, teacher, policeman, songwriter and musician, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2011 in Austin, Texas. He is survived by his sister, Judy, brother-in-law, Bruce and nephew, Todd, and former wife, Margaret. Dan held degrees in Liberal Arts, Elementary Education and graduated 2nd in his class at the Massachusetts State Police Academy. He had a career as a Middle School Math teacher and served as a Sergeant in the Worcester, Mass. police department. Dan was a self-taught Organist and member of the A.G.O. He served as Minister of Music at churches in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, as well as, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Las Cruces, New Mexico. While at St. Andrew's, Dan also served as a Reader and Lay Eucharistic Minister (taking Communion to the sick and shut-in). He had a generous heart, a great sense of humor and an appreciation of life's many ironies. and was a believer in I.I.W.I.I. (It Is What It Is). A lover of books and the arts and a master of the keyboard; he is greatly missed by the family and many friends that he leaves behind. Services celebrating Dan's life will be held on Saturday, October 15 at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 518 No. Alameda, Las Cruces, New Mexico. Canon Scott A. Ruthven officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the St. Andrew's Music Program.

It saddens me to hear of Dan's passing he was a patient of mine. A man with a very kind heart not to mention he and I shared the same date of birth he always send me a birthday card he never forgot about me. God bless you Dan. Prayers to his family he will be greatly missed!!!!
