Doyle Woolly Obituary

Doyle Edwin Woolly died at Sierra Vista Hospital on June 29, 2009. He lived 78 years and enjoyed life to the fullest. Doyle was a Christian and is with the Lord in Heaven. He was born on February 22,1931 in Sweetwater, Oklahoma.

Doyle spent five years in the Navy as an electrician and many years as an electrician in many areas after the service. His most notable tenure was with the White Sands Missile Range where he was very proud to be part of the shuttle team. He was right there on hand when the shuttle actually landed in New Mexico.

Doyle never married and lived with and cared for his mother, Mildred (Albin) Woolly, for many years while living in Las Cruces. He was a wonderful devoted son and they were a happy team. He was a hot shot bowler who went to the National Bowling Tournament every year and had the ultimate - a perfect game (300) in 1982.

His special family members are Mick and Susan Montgomery of TorC; Ben and Alexis Montgomery of Albuquerque; Emerson, Anja and Jonas LaFebre of Albuquerque; Judy Rhoads of TorC; Glenna, Joe Brent, Thad (and family) Fuller of Albuquerque; the Moellers of Datil; the Albin and Fowlers of Pie Town; the Albin family of Kingman, AZ; the Coopers of Mesa, AZ; and the Loudders of Dimmitt and Austin, TX.

The family reunion each June at Elephant Butte Lake was a very special family and friend time for Doyle and he loved going fishing on his pontoon. He always caught fish even if no one else did.

He was a life member of the National Rifle Association and the American Bowling Association.

Doyle was the ultimate friend when it came to electrical situations. He was right there helping for all other times of need, as well. He attended First Baptist Church of TorC and all the light fixtures in the building have experienced his loving hands replacing their bulbs. His neighbors always knew that they could count on him for any kind of help.

Doyle will be missed most of all by his loving, constant companion - a Boston Terrier named Mack. As his pastor said, "Mack just lets Doyle live with him".

A time honoring Doyle will be at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church, TorC, on Saturday, July 4, 2009 with Pastor Dudley Bristow officiating. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, July 6, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Masonic Cemetery, 760 S. Compress Rd., Las Cruces, NM. Casket Bearers are Larry Metz, Chuck Pritchett, Bob Fortner, John Amin, Buddy Phelps and Gary Montoya. Honorary Casket Bearers are Marsh Lynch, Bob Martinek and Gordon Freman.

For those who prefer, donations can be made in Doyle's name to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 329, TorC, NM 87901.
