Edward Del Ferraro Obituary

The earth was blessed on Nov. 23, 1938 with the arrival of Edward U. Del Ferraro "Del" of Glen Cove, New York. Del was notorious for his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor that enriched the lives of all who knew him. Del was a hard-working man with impeccable integrity and determination. What was most important to Del, was his family and friends, he was always there to help, protect, love and support them. Del was like another father or brother to many. He was the greatest husband and father we could wish for and shared a special bond with his daughter that meant the world to her. Del loved New Mexico for its beauty, and thrived on being outdoors working on his land. His favorite things were hunting with his brother, family and friends, shooting, vintage cars, fixing things and talking about history. He served as an Aviation Mechanic in U.S. Navy and came to Las Cruces with Grumman Aerospace as a mechanic in 1965 and proudly worked in the aerospace industry with different companies at WSTF, Cape Canaveral, Fla., Johnson Space Center (NASA) TX, and WSMR as an engineer until his retirement in 2000. God welcomed him to heaven as our guiding angel on Jan. 21, 2014 to be reunited with his parents, Constantine (John) and Frances Del Ferraro; a sister Frances Mariana and many special relatives and close friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Regina (nee McKenna), daughter, Terri, sons, John (Catherine) of Whittier, Calif., and Paul, of Chandler, Ariz. , grandsons, John Edward Del Ferraro, of Chandler, Ariz. and Phillip Urias, of Whittier, Calif. , brother John (Carla) Godson, Craig (Melissa), niece, Stephanie Dow (Paul) , Mariana nephews of N.Y., Goddaughter, Susan Raney Plantz, (Bill) ("granddaughters" Alyssa & Sarah), brother-in-law, Regis McKenna, San Rafael, of Calif. and many other special relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations made in honor of Del to either the Alzheimer's & Dementia Foundation at alz.org or the Mesilla Valley Hospice at mvhospice.org At his request cremation has taken place. Calling hours will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8: 00 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road. I just heard of Del´s passing. We went through St. Patrick´s and Glen Cove High School together. Sad to lose touch with childhood friends as life takes us in different directions. And, he was very simply a smiling and friendly fellow, right from kindergarden. My sympathy to his family.

Regina and family, I don't know where to start. I wish you all comfort and peace knowing he is in a better place. I can already hear all the laughter coming down from up there. Things will never be the same in heaven. He was a wonderful friend and we always had the best times ever when we all hung out together. There was always something going on. One thing funnier than the last. He had a great personality and many, many friends that will miss him forever. So sorry for your loss. He will never be forgotten.
Love, Nancy & Richie

Sincere condolences and prayers to the Del Ferraro Family from The Rafael (Ralph) Delgado Family. I am a fellow WSTFite from the Chemistry Labs Dept. I knew Del from work and we became friends after he helped me when I was having car problems. That was the kind of person he was always ready to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. We have lost a wonderful person but God has gained a beautiful soul. May God bless and help his family through this time of sorrow.

Terri and Family, We have two ways of remembering people who leave us and start another journey. We either cry over their absence, or smile and remember them through the countless memories that will stay with you. I'm sure Del wants you to smile now and forever and the memories will get easier to reminisce about. He's watching you now. Stay strong.
